Fundacion Manos Felices was borned from the initiative of cousins Andrea, Mariela and Ricardo Kury.
The aim of the foundation is to help with the development of low income children and to provide the tools to allow them to overcome the potential barriers in their environment.
Andrea went on a mission to Campamento Mision in Santa Rita, Paraguay together with Father Alfredo Guzmán and another 40 teenagers for two consecutive years. While there, she realized that, besides rebuilding houses and deliver first aid items, having a personal contact for this children and teenagers was extremely important. Missionaries can show the kids that there is a wonderful world outside of Santa Rita and that if they commit to succeed, they can reach it.
While Andrea was in Paraguay, cousin Ricardo worked as a counselor in a camp organized by El Centro Sopeña in the Dominican Republic. Every Saturday, El Centro Sopeña, which is sponsored by the Catholic Church, offers arts and crafts workshops for children and teens living in poverty around capital Santo Domingo. The works includes a Summer camp as a complement to the Saturday workshops. When Ricardo returned home from his Summer Camp Experience, the need to make something more for these kids was overwhelming.
And so, it happened that Andrea and Ricardo decide to do something about it and after hearing the stories of Andrea and Ricardo, Mariela decides to join them. That’s how Fundacion Manos Felices is born.
Our mission is to find ways to raise funds to acquire the tools and the items needed to promote and to continue the work of hope for these kids.
In “Happy Hands Foundation, everything is for the children….”
